研究型硕士

Master of Science in Architecture: 针对于本科背景是建筑专业的学生，希望以后从事建筑相关的理论学习和研究的。专注于学术研究，如建筑历史,建筑环境之类的。时间为1-2年，时间比职业型短,但是不实用，很多学生会转读博士。

职业型硕士

根据招生时对本科背景的要求不同，也可以分为2类

1、Professional Degree(M.Arch I) ：哈佛大学给出的定义是Theprogram leading to the Master in Architecture (MArch) is an accreditedprofessional degree intended for individuals who have completed the bachelor'sdegree with a major other than one of the design professions or with apre-professional undergraduate major in one of the design professions.这类项目学制一般是2.5-3.5年，主要针对的是本科是非建筑专业或是4年建筑的学生。根据学生背景和先修课程的不同，有些学校需要的时间也不太一样。

2、Post-ProfessionalDegree(M.Arch II)：哈佛大学给出的定义是：Theprogram leading to the Master in Architecture II (MArch II) is apost-professional degree intended for individuals who have completed afive-year undergraduate professional program in architecture or its equivalent.这类项目学制一般是1-2年，主要针对的是本科为5年的建筑专业学生，是为已经取得了professional degree的学生继续深造所设置的学位。

1.Collect Three Letters of Recommendation:at least two from college or university instructors and, if appropriate, one from an employer.收集三封推荐信:至少两封来自学院或大学导师，如果合适的话，一封来自雇主。
